After working through the weekend, congress and the president finally have a debt ceiling deal. It's not perfect, but that's what you get when everyone doesn't agree on what should be done. You have to compromise.

But not Michele Bachmann. She's going to vote against it. "Someone has to say 'no.' I will," she said. www.cnn.com

I think politics is a little too complicated for Mrs. Bachmann. Earlier she was interviewed trying to make sense of the fourteenth amendment.

I'm glad we are having this debt issue right before an election year. This way we can see how the candidates will act under real issues. Mrs. Bachmann will not get my vote for president.

“But, I did not win!” McCain complained.

“You did not listen to me, and you picked her as you running mate,” the Devil said, as Sarah Palin was brought into the room.

“What’s she here for?” McCain asked. “What did she sell her soul for?”

“She didn’t. She’s here for minor offences: not paying taxes, lying about others, hunting without a license.”

“Hey!” Palin complained. “I don’t need a license to hunt! I was the Governor!”

“Yes you do actually, and lying about it won’t make a difference,” the Devil said.

“And, I’ve been blessed to be protected from witchcraft,” Palin continued.

“Ha! As if that counts!” The Devil was having a good time with this. Looking back at McCain, he said, “Anyway, I usually do not deal with small fish like her. But, I brought Palin her for you to understand why you are here.”

“And why am I here? What happened to our agreement?” McCain asked.

“The contract you signed said that I would make you president. However, it required you to do your part, which included picking someone who could actually be vice president. And you picked her!” The Devil was mad.

“So? Can’t you make her able to be a vice president?” McCain asked.

“Did you see her interview with Katie Couric? And how she did in the debate? I can’t work miracles; that’s for the guy upstairs.”

“So, I could have won? Even with the war going on, and the economy doing so bad?” McCain asked.

“Yes, even with all that. If you could have just picked someone the people could believe would make a good vice president.” The Devil answered. “But, enough of the past! You are both here, now!”

I was going to watch the vice presidential debate tonight between Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin. I watched a few minutes, and then gave up on it. I remembered why I don’t watch these debates. When you are asked a question, I expect you to answer the question. I hate it when the debaters ignore the question completely.

Of course, Sarah Palin is good at that.

She did this in the debate tonight. At one point she said, “I may not answer the question that you ask…” In that case, what’s the point of the debate?

And we have to waste time for Biden to explain to Palin what the vice president does. I guess the constitution was not required reading for her.

Of course, she has time to shout out to her friend back home during the debate.

She is annoying. Do people really want her to be the next vice president? I hope not. I guess we will find out in November.

I got to hand it to George W. Bush. He makes Nixon look like an honorable man. When Nixon faced being impeached, he resigned. He never admitted to breaking the law, but he later mentioned that he had had errors of judgment.

Just Another Crazy Election Week

The passport files of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain were all breached.

While that was going on, Fox news thought it was more important to talk about a comment that Barack Obama made about his mother. What’s wrong with calling someone a “typical white person”? It would not bother me to be called that.

Chris Wallace then blasts Fox & Friends for distracting America by taking Obama's comments out of context.

They read the complete sound bite three times? In two hours? Wow, nothing else to talk about, like the passport files of the presidential candidates being breached?

Some people are still confused about John McCain. They say he was not born on U.S territory and the Constitution clearly states that he is not eligible to be president. Well, first off, if he could not be president, why would be bother running? Second off, by now the Republican National Committee would tell him to stop running if he could not become president.

You have to be a natural-born citizen to be president or vice president. To be natural-born citizen, you have to have been born in the United States, or born outside of the United States to U.S. parents. John McCain was born outside of the U.S, but his parents are U.S. citizens.

How about Ron Paul? Is the Ron Paul March still on? I’m not sure. I have not heard anything lately.

Madam Speaker, oh where, oh where has the American air base gone? Oh where or where can it be? With its 6,000 phantom troops and 32 million missing dollars, oh where, oh where can it be?

Madam Speaker, let me explain. Corruption has struck again, and just like times in the past, it's at the taxpayers' expense.

Government investigators recently uncovered the newest scam in contracting. This time it's a phantom air base in Iraq, purchased by the U.S. taxpayers at the tune of $32 million.

Madam Speaker, here it is, or here it's supposed to be. This is a photograph of the location in Iraq where the air base is, or where it was supposed to be built. But you can see that there is nothing to see because it was never built.

Last month the Inspector General at the Defense Department released a report about money spent to help train and equip Iraqi military and police forces. The contracting project in question was awarded to Ellis Environmental Group, a U.S. company based out of Florida, in 2006. The U.S. Air Force paid the company $32 million for this project, this air base in Iraq. The construction contract would have involved the creation of barracks and offices for 6,000 Iraqi troops in Ramadi, the capital of the Anbar province.

But the project had to be abandoned before anything was ever built when the Iraqi Defense Ministry failed to obtain this desert land for the base.

So what happened to the $32 million the Air Force doled out to Ellis Environmental? The alarming answer is no one knows. And the company won't say.

An Air Force spokesman says the contractor set up a camp for construction workers and began design work for the headquarters before the project was halted. But nothing was ever built. All we know now is that none of the $32 million the U.S. paid out to these contractors was returned to U.S. taxpayers. The Air Force is set to begin an audit of the project, but no one knows how long that's going to take.

The Inspector General report documents more abuses. And USA Today Matt Keller, reporter, said the findings show "the military didn't keep adequate records of equipment for the Iraqis ranging from generators and garage trucks to thousands of guns and grenade launchers. Separately, the United States has launched a criminal investigation into allegations that weapons it bought for the Iraqi soldiers ended up in the hands of insurgent and terrorist groups."

Madam Speaker, this ought not to be.

In the meantime, Ellis Environmental Group has changed its name.

If a crime has been committed, these outlaws responsible need to be held accountable. Madam Speaker, war profiteers that make money off of war by building "phantom" military bases like this one should be prosecuted. This type of conduct fits the definition of war crimes. Maybe we should build a real prison for war criminals out in this desert in the sands of Iraq to house thieves that steal American money.

So, Madam Speaker, oh where, oh where has the American base gone? Oh where, oh where can it be? With its 6,000 phantom troops and 32 million missing dollars, it's where, oh where no one can see. And that's just the way it is.

Hillary Wants Obama for a Running Mate

Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady.

Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, an Obama backer, mocked the idea.

"It may be the first time in history that the person who is running number two would offer the person running number one the number two position," Daschle told "Meet the Press."

I don’t know what to make of this. Is Hillary serious? She is behind Obama in getting the Democratic presidential nomination, so this would be better talked about between just her and Obama, if she is serious. It sounds more like she is just trying once again to show that she has more experience then Obama. If she is talking about Dirty Tricks, I would agree that she has more experience then Obama.
